Call for national infectious disease centre

Australia needs a national communicable diseases centre to manage the growing burden of tropical and novel diseases, a parliamentary enquiry has heard.

Public health and infectious diseases experts told politicians this month that such a centre, ideally based in WA, could provide vital co-ordination in the event of a major disease outbreak.
