Call for vitamin D fortification

Fortifying food with vitamin D is a good way of offering protection against acute respiratory tract infections.

That's the view of a team of international researchers, including Australians, who conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis of 25 randomised controlled trials involving 11,000 people.

Their work shows that supplementation significantly reduces the risk of experiencing at least one acute respiratory tract infection by 12%.
