Cancer patient dies from morphine overdose

The family of a dying woman who was given enough morphine “to kill a whole paddock of horses” say the drug accelerated her death and blame her doctor for the error.

The Tasmanian state coroner Rod Chandler has found Teressa Beswick, 54, was “grossly overdosed” after she was given nine times the maximum dose of morphine for palliative pain relief at the Mersey Community Hospital (MCH).
