Cancer surgery waiting times revealed

The wait for cancer surgery is much longer at some public hospitals than others, according to the Federal Government's MyHospital website.

Health Minister Tanya Plibersek announced Tuesday that upgrades to the website, which now shows average cancer surgery waiting times for selected cancer types in public hospitals.

Between July 2010 and June 2011, the wait for gynaecological cancer surgery was just 11 days at Sydney’s Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.

This compared with 49 days at Campbelltown Hospital in Sydney's western suburbs, and 44 days at Nepean Hospital,
