Card game for kids aims to boost vaccination

GP trainee Dr Dan Epstein is getting Australia’s children to infect each other with horrible diseases, such as measles and whooping cough, in the name of vaccine awareness.

The junior doctor from Melbourne (pictured) has developed Vaxcards, a game that turns vaccine-preventable diseases into grotesque but lovable cartoon characters that players can deploy in a battle against an opponent.

The game is designed to make children familiar with vaccine-preventable diseases, while highlighting the value of building up a “resistance shield” via immunisation.
