CBT on par with antidepressants

Cognitive behavioural therapy may be as effective as SSRIs for treating major depression, according to a systematic review, but the authors caution that the evidence base is weak.

The meta-analysis of 11 randomised controlled trials comparing second-generation antidepressants with CBT found no statistically significant difference in effectiveness for response, remission or change in depression score.
