Cheaper fees for senior GPs could penalise others
THE Medical Board of Australia (MBA) has warned that any proposal offering cheaper registration for senior doctors could raise fees for all other medical practitioners.
An MBA spokeswoman said a reduction in fees for senior doctors, as outlined in a proposal from the Australian Doctors' Fund (ADF) for a new Senior Active registration category, would have "implications for the fees paid by the rest of the profession".
The confirmation comes as health ministers from WA and Tasmania last week added qualified support for an overhaul of registration standards.
