Chelation trial 'proves nothing', say experts

Experts have discounted the results of a controversial trial that suggest for the first time that IV "chelation therapy" may have modest cardiovascular benefits.

The alternative therapy, which seeks to rid the body of heavy metals, has long been practised by some medical practitioners despite no clinical evidence as to its efficacy.

Results from a high-profile, 10-year trial, reported on Wednesday in the Journal of the American Medical
