Chiros defend 'gentle treatment' of infants

The leaders of Australia’s 4800 chiropractors say they are “disturbed” by the media furore over the spinal manipulation of children.

The Chiropractors Association of Australia (CAA) issued a statement defending “gentle treatment” last week following the RACGP’s call for GPs to stop referring patients to chiropractors and a damning ABC report on manipulations in children as young as four with colic.

The CAA’s argument against GPs who opt not to make referrals was that Swiss GPs were a common source of referrals for Swiss chiropractors.
