Chondroitin sulfate beats celecoxib in knee OA

Chondroitin sulfate is more effective than celecoxib in reducing the long-term progression of knee osteoarthritis, a two-year double-blind randomised controlled trial has found.

Canadian researchers randomised 194 people with knee OA and inflammation of the synovial membrane to either 1200mg of pharmacologically prepared chondroitin sulfate or 200mg of celecoxib daily.
