Coeliac testing in pharmacies dangerous: AMA

The validity of a new screening test for coeliac disease in pharmacies is questionable, and could lead to missed or incorrect diagnoses, the Australian Medical Association (AMA) says.

In an opinion article published in the Sydney Morning Herald, Dr Saxon Smith, NSW AMA president, said the validity of the Simtomax coeliac in-pharmacy screening test had not been proven as a true population screening tool, and required further research.
