Confusing S8 script laws get GPs in trouble

Doctors who prescribe drugs of dependence are being placed at “significant medicolegal risk” by confusing regulations, a medical defence organisation warns.

Avant says many doctors are not aware of when they need to seek authority from their state’s pharmaceutical services unit (PSU) before prescribing a Schedule 8 medication for a patient who has become “drug dependent”.
