Cosmetic surgeon fined and banned from hormone prescribing

Dr Michael Zacharia, former Australasian College of Cosmetic Surgery and Australasian Academy of Anti-Ageing Medicine president, was also ordered to confine his practice to ear, nose and throat or cosmetic procedures after being found guilty of professional misconduct by the Medical Tribunal of NSW.

The Health Care Complaints Commission argued that Dr Zacharia had prescribed human growth hormone, testosterone and anabolic steroids in a quantity, or for a purpose that did not accord with the recognised therapeutic standard, and had self-prescribed testosterone and endogenous steroid hormone.
