Crackdown on anti-vax chiropractors

The move follows the board’s July meeting in which directors discussed growing concern that some chiropractors were continuing to “promote, display and provide material to their patients – online and in their practices – that is not consistent with the standards set out in the board’s code of conduct”, a communiqué said.

The move also follows years of campaigning from other medicine-based groups such as the AMA and Friends of Science in Medicine who have alleged chiropractors are receiving continuing professional development points for completing courses with controversial anti-vaccination activists.

In its communiqué, the board said the chiropractors’ code of conduct required practitioners to integrate “the best available evidence with the expertise to make clinical decisions that reflect the practice standards of the profession as well as patient values and preferences”.
