Crackdown on prescription drug 'hoarders'

GPs are being urged to be on the look out for prescription drug ‘hoarders’ as part of a Federal Government end-of-year crackdown on PBS fraud.

The Department of Human Services has written to all doctors to warn them that patients are more likely to stockpile medications at the end of the year – often in a bid to hit the safety net threshold and so cut their medication costs for the following year.
