Cut consults to boost profits, GPs advised

AMA NSW’s “preferred accounting partner” is advising GPs to cut their consultations by two minutes to boost practice profits by $200,000 a year.

A paid insert by Cutcher and Neale accountants in the association’s NSW Doctor magazine this month claimed: “Shorter consultations lead to more consultations per day and more fees on a daily basis.”

Under the headline “How to make $200,000 in 2 minutes”, it said the average GP consultation time was 15 minutes and the average fee was $65
