Depressed patients should stay at work: study

Working through a depressive illness is better for the patient than taking sick leave, according to the results of an Australian study.

It’s also better for the economy, say the researchers, who hope their work will influence the clinical management depressed patients.

Lead researcher Dr Fiona Cocker from the University of Melbourne School of Population and Global Health says a greater understanding of the costs and consequences of both absenteeism and
