Details emerge of pharmacy checks plan

Australian Doctor has obtained a copy of pharmacists’ blueprint for conducting 1.5 million health checks on patients by the end of the year.

Drawn up by the Pharmacy Guild of Australia, the paper marked “confidential” has been submitted to the Federal Health Department.

It says pharmacists should receive $50 for a 30-minute consultation which would “assess vital parameters” including weight, BMI, blood pressure, blood glucose and cholesterol.
