DHS accused of 'handballing' delayed pharmacy payments

The Department of Human Services may have delayed HMR and Medscheck payments for many pharmacies during the changeover to program payments being handled by the Pharmacy Guild of Australia, a pharmacist believes.

The pharmacist, who wished to remain anonymous, said because of the short time allowed for claims to be submitted to the DHS before the changeover in program administration on 14 March, many pharmacies may have been caught out, and required to resubmit their claims, at great costs in time and workload.
