Diabetes cancels out women’s longevity advantage

Women with type 1 diabetes have a 40% increased risk of death from all causes than men with the disease, according to a meta-analysis involving more than 200,000 patients.

And they have double the excess risk of fatal and nonfatal vascular events than men with type 1 diabetes, report Australian researchers in The Lancet Diabetes & Endocrinology .
