Diabetes risk higher with ARBs

Patients taking ARBs are more likely to develop diabetes than those taking ACEIs, a US study suggests.

Analysing electronic health records from over 25,000 hypertensive patients, researchers found those taking ARBs were 28% more likely to develop diabetes over the seven-year study period than those taking ACEIs.
The effect appeared especially pronounced in women, with those taking ARBs having a 93% higher risk for new-onset diabetes than those taking ACEIs.
Writing in the Journal of Clinical Hypertension, the Pennsylvania-based researchers said their
