Diabetes risk with statins linked to weight gain

The increased risk of diabetes with statin treatment has been overestimated and may have more to do with weight gain than a metabolic effect of statins, two new Australian studies have suggested.

While some studies have linked higher dose statin treatment to a 9% higher risk of developing diabetes, researchers from the University of Queensland say the increased risk is much lower.
In a new meta-analysis of five statin trials, researchers found that the difference in diabetes risk between moderate and high doses of statin was extremely low at around
