Diabetes stubborn in obese teens

Type 2 diabetes is extremely stubborn in overweight youth, with only half responding to first-line drug and lifestyle therapies, research suggests.

In results described as “worrisome”, researchers found twice-daily metformin succeeded in bringing HbA1C levels under control in just 48% of 10 to 17-year-olds with type 2 diabetes.
