Diabetes studies mash potato’s reputation

Eating too many potatoes increases the risk of type 2 diabetes, independent of a person’s BMI and other risk factors, a US study shows.

The finding, published in Diabetes Care, is similar to a BMJ  study that shows a potato-rich diet before pregnancy increases the likelihood of gestational diabetes mellitus.

Both papers show that replacing potatoes with other vegetables and whole grains lowers the risk
