Dietary guidelines criticised over fats

New draft national dietary guidelines have come under fire for failing to distinguish between good and bad fats, with an expert warning that the public message on fats is in danger of becoming confused.

The draft guidelines, released recently by the NHMRC, recommend that people cut back on all fats and oils, and only "use small amounts" of both.

However, Emeritus Professor Stewart Truswell, an author on the previous edition of the guidelines, said the new advice was not specific
