Disagreement over allowable pharma payments
In response to a Medicines Australia Code of Conduct review, the RACGP said gifts worth $10 should be recorded but only reported if they totalled $100 a year.
But the AMA said the recording minimum should be $25 with payments not to be reported unless they exceeded $500.
“The administrative costs of recording all interactions under $25 will be high. The administrative onus falls not only on pharmaceutical companies but on every individual practitioner to accurately record interactions,” the AMA said.
