Discharge summaries improve with free coffee

That perennial bugbear of GPs — the incomplete discharge letter — can be fixed by offering hospital doctors a free cup of coffee for getting it right, researchers in WA have deduced.

Doctors at the Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital in Perth decided to take action when they found that only half of patient discharge summaries contained information about medication changes and patient follow-up.
