Victorian researchers say 1 in 20 young adolescents have confirmed food allergy. What did their study find?
What this study shows:
- One in 20 young adolescents have a confirmed food allergy
- The most common allergens are peanut and tree nut (2-3%)
What it means for practice:
- Children don’t always outgrow their food allergies
- Although the rate of food allergy is not as high as in infancy, it is still concerningly high in early adolescence.
