A Sydney gynaecologist has withstood legal action by a patient who claimed she had not been warned she could still fall pregnant after an endometrial ablation.

The woman, Lisa Neville, now aged 50, fell pregnant following the procedure in 2004, and went on to give birth to a boy with multiple joint contractures and facial nerve palsy.
