Doctor struck off for narcotic habit

A Sydney GP who prescribed himself 2856 oxycontin pills over seven months has been deregistered for three years.

The NSW Civil and Administration Tribunal heard that Dr Nimi Azizi was working as an emergency doctor at Blacktown and Mt Druitt hospitals while he was heavily addicted to oxycontin, outlaying $10,000 to fund his habit.
