Doctors accused of letting down gout patients

Fewer than a quarter of gout patients treated in primary care achieve target serum urate concentrations, Australian researchers have found.

Data from almost 1.5 million Australian primary care patient records over five years shows only 57% of those diagnosed with gout were prescribed allopurinol, with just over half having their serum urate tested over the period.
