Doctors call for help from pharmacists
In-practice support boosts adherence and reduces adverse events

The Australian Medical Association (AMA) is calling for immediate federal funding to integrate non-dispensing pharmacists into general practice.

It is three years since the AMA proposed pharmacists play a key role in general practice and it’s now time for action, says Dr Richard Kidd, chair of the association’s council of general practice.
Independent research commissioned by the AMA shows that every dollar invested to allow GPs to employ pharmacists would return $1.56 in savings.
The evidence in support of employing pharmacists
