Doctors declare world's most extensive face transplant a success

This is the story of US volunteer firefighter Patrick Hardison, who was injured 14-years ago when the roof of a burning home collapsed on him.

The accident left the 41-year-old with disfiguring burns across his entire face, head, neck and upper torso (pictured left).
