Doctors fight govt with social media

The Scrap the Cap campaign against plans to limit tax-deductible self-education expenses to $2000 a year — far less than what most doctors claim they spend — attracted more than 5700 signatures to a petition in under a week without any marketing, apart from Twitter and Facebook.

“We’ve done no mail-outs, no email blasts. The entire conversation has been generated on Facebook and Twitter, which has redirected people back to the website,” said General Practice Registrars Australia (GPRA) CEO Amit Vohra, a campaign founder.
