Doctors at high risk of complaints can be tracked

A new rating system to track doctors in Australia at high risk of patient complaints has been developed by researchers.

The so-called PRONE scale scores doctors out of 22 based on their gender, specialty and the number of formal complaints to which they have already been subjected.

With the Medical Board of Australia investigating whether to introduce regular competency checks on doctors, the system could be used to target those believed to be at the highest risk of future complaints.
