Doctors-only clinic 'interesting experiment', but a waste of resources
The clinic will open twice a week for four hours and all day on Saturdays, and is designed to provide Adelaide GPs who don’t have their own doctor a general practice service they will feel comfortable accessing.
Dr Gordon said while the clinic was a worthy concept to trial, there were probable “greater medical needs elsewhere”.
“This is an interesting experiment, and it will need to be very carefully evaluated,” Dr Gordon said.
“It may be meeting a met un-need, rather than an unmet need.
“We may be better off educating doctors and health professionals to use mainstream services that are already available, rather than trying to create new services just for doctors.”
