Doctors to prescribe ‘standing time’

For many office workers, a prescription for a regular dose of “standing” would substantially improve their health, according to a leading physiotherapy academic.

Evidence suggests that long uninterrupted periods of sitting is linked to premature death, obesity, cancer, type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease, yet most office workers spend at least three quarters of their day in a sedentary state.
