Doctors roll up their sleeves to produce some sweet sounds

The 60-strong ensemble of doctors, medical students and other health professionals is back sponsoring the eisteddfod again this year, with another lineup of seasoned soloists and classic tunes.

And its members couldn’t be more excited about the possibility that they might play a part in the making of another young star like Emily.

“The vast majority of us are working clinicians in the community or hospitals, and all of us are the sorts of people who harbour secret dreams to become a musician at some stage in our lives,” orchestra convenor oboist Dr Clare Skinner told MO.

“It’s very nice to know that we can do something that contributes to someone else fulfilling that dream.”

Meanwhile, the orchestra’s next concert, An Afternoon In Vienna, will also feature star baritone Christopher Hillier in a Viennese-themed program, which includes Schubert, Mahler and Strauss – chosen to suit the
