Doctors scapegoats in hospital pay bungle

A Queensland specialist has blamed “lazy” medical administrators for situtation that has seen doctors overpaid thousands of dollars for treating their private patients in public hospitals.  

In a damning report, the state’s Auditor-General revealed an $804 million hole from a “misunderstood” program that gave non-staff specialists cash allowances in return for diverting their earnings from private patients treated in the public hospital where they
