Doctors share their views on euthanasia

Around 40% of Dutch doctors say they would consider euthanasia for patients with early dementia or who were “tired of living”, a survey of 1500 GPs and specialists shows.

More than 80% say they would be prepared to help patients to die if they have cancer or other serious diseases.

Published in the Journal of Medical Ethics, the results show three out of four doctors have been asked at least once for help to die, rising to more than nine out of ten among GPs.
