Drug firm fined over stroke website

A drug company has been fined $125,000 over its high-profile online campaign against the Federal Government's decision to defer listing the new anticoagulant dabigatran (Pradaxa) on the PBS.

Boehringer Ingelheim created the 'Vote Against Stroke' website and online petition in September last year after the Federal cabinet unexpectedly decided not to list the drug on the PBS, against the advice of the Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee.
