Drug shortage prompts supply chain fears
Doctors have expressed anger over the latest in a string of drug shortages, amid warnings Australia remains “supremely vulnerable” to further shortfalls.
AstraZeneca announced this month that an IT fault would cause stocks of several of its drugs to run dry in May and early June.
The company said the shortages would hit:
- five formulations of candesartan - Atacand and Atacand Plus
- four respiratory drugs - Symbicort, Oxis and two Pulmicort Turbuhalers.
