Dump DNR orders for positive message

Switching from the negative terminology of "do not resuscitate" to a more positive "allow natural death" could help patients and their families have open discussions about death instead of clinging to often futile end-of-life treatment, a Victorian emergency clinician says.

The off-putting connotations of DNR "make discussion so challenging for clinicians, patients and families", said Dr Diana Egerton-Warburton at Monash Health, Melbourne.
