E-cigarettes fail to win over Australians

Controversy has flared in recent years over whether e-cigarettes are a gateway to smoking or a useful cessation tool.

But it turns out not many Australians are using them anyway.

A recent telephone-based survey of more than 12,500 NSW residents shows that only 1% are current users of e-cigarettes.

In comparison, 10% of the US population and 4% of the UK population are current e-cigarette users, according to recent studies.
