Eight signs a cancer patient is about to die

Researchers in the US and Brazil have identified eight specific physical and cognitive signs that a cancer patient is likely to die within 72 hours.

They are:
- Nonreactive pupils;
- Decreased response to verbal stimuli;
- Decreased response to visual stimuli;
- Inability to close eyelids;
- Drooping of the nasolabial fold;
- Neck hyperextension;
- Grunting of vocal cords; and
- Upper gastrointestinal bleeding.
