Eleventh hour talks resolve ED dispute

Directors of Goolwa Medical Centre, 100km south of Adelaide, resigned in May from a contract providing services to South Coast District Hospital in nearby Victor Harbour after 25 years.

The practice’s 14 GPs refused to treat ambulance patients dropped at the medical centre if they were assessed as not needing to go to the hospital. GPs in Victor Harbour and Middleton said they would also cease emergency services because of the increased workload.
