Epilepsy commonly missed as cause of death

The risk of sudden death in epilepsy could be considerably reduced if it wasn’t so often missed as the cause of death, says a paper published in the journal Neurology.

Dr Orrin Devinsky, a professor of neurology, neurosurgery and psychiatry at New York University, writes that epilepsy deaths are commonly misattributed to heart disease, obesity, addiction and psychiatric disorders.
