‘Every day a surprise’ for award-winning rural GP

Dr Grahame Deane, who started as a GP in the northern NSW town in 1982, now works after-hours and on call, trains registrars and students, and provides obstetric, anaesthetic and surgical services to the Gunnedah hospital – all on top of running his own group practice.

He has served on the board of Barwon Division of General Practice for 13 years including seven as chairman, on the board of the NSW Rural Doctors Network for 10 years including two as chairman, on the Australian Remote and Rural Workforce
