A controversial trial of pharmacy-based screening for type 2 diabetes is expected to show that fewer than 140 cases were identified among the 14,100 customers who were screened.

The Pharmacy Diabetes Screening Trial began two years ago with the goal of screening people using either the Australian type 2 diabetes risk assessment tool (AUSDRISK) alone, AUSDRISK followed by a point-of-care HbA1c test or AUSDRISK followed by a point-of-care blood glucose test.
