Exercise the key for soldiers fighting PTSD

Soldiers combating post traumatic stress disorder benefit greatly from combining exercise with psychiatric care, an Australian study shows.

A 12-week exercise program, on top of routine PTSD treatments including psychotherapy, medication and group therapy, significantly reduced PTSD symptoms compared with usual care alone, according to a randomised study of 81 hospitalised PTSD patients, overwhelmingly from a military or police background.
